The ITTI committee has invited travel writer Tomislav Perko to give a guest lecture at NHTV. Tomislav Perko is currently a trend on Facebook with his readings about his experiences. Six Attractions & Theme Parks Management students spent 20 weeks on their minor assignment for Europa-Park. They had to develop a live cooking catering experience and came up with poffertjes, a traditional Dutch treat. It is the first time that an NHTV minor project is actually carried out by Europa-Park, the best European leisure park.

On 9 March 2016, the Academy for Tourism presented the NHTV Tourism Innovation Thesis Award at an alumni event in Berlin. Richard Smith won the award with his graduation thesis on SMART Tourism. The award comes with a prize of €1,000.
In an article in Transportation Research Part D, Paul Peeters and others show that new technologies are hyped by the aviation industry and the media as the solution to sustainability problems. However, these technologies appear to be myths.
6 students from the International Tourism Management programme will represent NHTV at the upcoming International Tourism Students Conference in April, which will be held in Madrid.
